A special “thanks” must go out to the 1100 volunteers who came to Charles Drew Elementary last week! After only 11 days of working at the school it is in the final stages of completion and will be ready for the students to begin their 09-10 school year. The work done by the many hands and through the heart of volunteers in Youth Works, Son Servants, Katrina Corps and ECLA will help provide the Cougars with a fresh and reenergized school atmosphere. A very special thanks must go to the 750 volunteers from all over the country with ECLA who came out on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Not only did your large donation of paint allow for the near completion of the school; but more importantly the heart and dedication it took to work for students you may never know and with a community you are only beginning to know, made this work more meaningful for all involved. It was amazing to see the sea of “orange shirts” pour through the hallways of Drew Elementary working for a united cause. We are so excited to see the faces of the students when they enter their school for the first time on August 6th, and we know that we will see a piece of all of you in them.
Thank You Again!
